The Texans are running out of QB’s. Leinart injured his collarbone last week and joins Matt Schaub on the shelf. That leaves the starting QB duties to T.J. Yates. Yates will be making his first career NFL start this week. Yates did see some action last week in the Texans 20-13 win over the Jaguars. Yates went 7-15 for 70 yards. With the inexperienced Yates at QB you know the Texans will be looking to run the ball and run it a lot. That begs the question how good is the Falcons run defence? It is among the best in the NFL. The Falcons allow just 3.5 yards per carry and just 83.5 rushing yards per game (2nd best in the NFL).
How teams matchup is a big part in betting on the NFL. The matchup in this week’s Falcons vs. Texans game definitely favors the Falcons. For the Texans to win this game they are going to need a lot of yards on the ground and the Falcons don’t give up many yards on the ground too often. A look at last week’s 2nd half performance from the Texans show they managed just 2 first downs and 47 total yards. With Matt Ryan leading a potent Falcons offence the Texans are going to need a good game from Yates too. I don’t see that happening. Currently the Falcons are a -2.5 favorite in this game at 5 Dimes Sportsbook. I’ll lay the -2.5 points with Atlanta in this game.
