Free NHL Proline Picks For December 10, 2011
Edmonton Oilers (2.25) vs. Calgary Flames (1.74); Total 5.5
In last night’s pick with the Washington Capitals I talked about the revenge angle and how the Capitals would be out to avenge a 7-1 loss to the Leafs from a few weeks prior. In tonight’s matchup the Flames beat the Oilers 5-3 in Edmonton just 10 days ago so the Oilers will be seeking revenge here tonight. However, when one team dominates another team as badly as the Flames dominate the Oilers you can throw the revenge angle out the window. The Oilers have been seeking revenge on the Flames for years and have had very little success. How bad do the Flames own the Oilers? The Flames have beaten the Oilers in 7 straight games and have won the last 14 of 15 meetings with the Oilers. I believe this is the definition of ownage. Will the ownage of the Oil by the Flames continue tonight?

Under the best of circumstances the Oilers just can’t seem to beat the Flames. To make matters worse for the Oilers they are in a tough scheduling spot to boot. The Oilers are coming off a 4-1 win last night in Edmonton and have to make the short trip to Calgary to play a rested Flames team waiting for their arrival. Plus they catch the Flames playing probably some of their best hockey of the season. The Flames have won 2 in a row and 5 of their last 7 games. And the Oilers are still without Taylor Hall. Currently the Flames are a 1.74 (-135) favorite to win this game at both Bodog Sportsbook and 5 Dimes Sportsbook. I’ll take the Flames to continue their dominance of the Oilers in this game.
