Predators vs. Coyotes Pick For Game #1 | April 27

Free NHL Pick For April 27: Predators vs. Coyotes

Nashville Predators (1.83) vs. Phoenix Coyotes (2.00); Total 5

9:00 PM ET starting time for this game.
The 2nd round of the playoffs gets under way Friday night with the Preds vs. Yotes. Both these teams have a lot of similarities. They have great defence and goaltending. However, I do feel the Predators have a slight advantage on D with Weber and Suter and do think they have slightly more offensive puch as well. Smith has been great for Phoenix but Rinne is playing just as well as evidenced by the 9 goals the Preds allowed in the 5 playoff games vs. the high powered Red Wings offence. The odds for game #1 and for the series tell us a lot. In game #1 the Predators are a small road favorite of about 1.83 (or -120). But for the series the Predators are a large favorite paying just 1.57 (or -175). Why the large discrepancy in price? The only reason for the large difference is because of the home ice advantage Phoenix has in games 1,2,5 and 7. But is home ice really an advantage? I say no. The road teams did much better than the home teams in round #1. For instance, Nashville took both playoff games in Detroit (the team that won 21 home games in a row during the regular season). Home ice is definitely over valued. The team that wins game #1 wins the series a large percentage of the time. The Predators are heavily favored to win the series but only slightly favored to win game #1 making the Predators a strong pick in game #1. Give me Nashville to win for 1.83 at Bodog Sportsbook.
