Free NFL Proline Picks For The Wildcard Weekend:

Selection #1: Bengals (+5) vs. Texans (-5): Total 43

The first game of the 2012-13 NFL Playoffs features the Bengals vs. Texans on Sat, Jan 5 at 4:30 pm et. If momentum means anything heading into the playoffs than the Bengals have a big advantage in this game. The Bengals won 7 of their final 8 games down the stretch with their only loss coming by a single point (20-19 vs. DAL). The Texans on the other hand won only 1 of their last 4 games and their offence looked out of sorts. The line in this game currently has the Texans as a -5 favorite (Bodog Sportsbook) or a -4.5 favorite 5 Dimes Sportsbook. Our lean on the point spread is with the Bengals plus the points but it is the total in this game we will be betting. The total in this game is currently 43 points. The reason CIN played so well down the stretch was because of their defence. The Bengals held their opponents to 20 points or less in their final 8 games. Add this to the fact that the Texans offence has not looked good down the stretch averaging just 16.25 points per game in their final 4 games. Heck, they even failed to score a TD in their final home game of the season vs. MIN (they scored just 6 points on 2 field goals). During the regular season both these teams allowed less than 21 points per game. We like both defences to show up for this game. We’ll take the UNDER 43 Points in the Bengals vs. Texans Wildcard Weekend game.

Taking The Bengals vs. Texans UNDER 43 Points @ 1.91

Selection #2: Seahawks (-3) vs. Redskins (+3); Total 46

Kickoff: Sunday, Jan 6 @ 4:30 PM ET. This game opened as a pick ’em but everyone has been jumping on the Seahawks making them a -2.5 to -3 point favorite. These two teams have a lot in common. The biggest similarity is how they like to run the ball. The Redskins lead the NFL in rushing yards per game with 169.3 ypg. The Seahwaks are not far behind averaging 161.2 yards per game (3rd best in the NFL). The interesting part is that both defenses have also defended the run well. WSH allows just 95.8 rushing yards per game (5th best) while SEA allows just 103.1 rushing ypg (10th best). With two rookie QB’s playing their 1st playoff game expect a heavy dose of running in this one. Given the capabilities of each team to stop the run it is the total we are looking at in this game. The total for the Seahwaks vs. Redskins game is currently 46 points at Bodog Sportsbook. We’ll take the UNDER 46 in this game.
