The San Francisco 49ers made it as far as Super Bowl XLVII before eventually falling to the Baltimore Ravens, but took down the Green Bay Packers in the process. This Sunday, when professional football makes its long-awaited regular season return, the two clubs will collide on the NFL moneyline.
Here are all of the Week #1 NFL Odds.
Having won their own title back in Super Bowl XLV, the Packers aren’t exactly pushovers when it comes to postseason football. It was perhaps that win, then, that validated the 49ers as contenders more than any other. Heading into the opening week clash of the 2013-14 campaign, the Niners are 4.5-point favorites on the NFL odds. The Packers, with a projected win total of 10.5 (versus San Fran’s 11) then, will have to pull out all of the stops as underdogs. The Pack won’t have Greg Jennings pulling in Aaron Rodgers passes this season, but should see Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb back in action, complemented by rookie running back Eddie Lacy. If Lacy, a Bama alum, brings with him any of the success he enjoyed in college, Green Bay’s 12/1 odds of winning Super Bowl XLVIII may be slightly more intriguing than the 49ers’ 6/1 mark when all is said and done. However, the Packers will be in tough in week #1 vs. a 49ers team that was really good last year and improved a lot in the offseason. We like the 49ers to cover the spread in this contest.
